Scan Verify
Probably the biggest and most important advancement in the EDI industry is the ability to be able to scan verify packages and cartons, but even more importantly, medications and pharmaceuticals. In previous years, in order to be sure that patients weren’t being given medications concomitantly that had contraindications with one another. The methods before scan verification were far too prone to human error, and often times lead to mistakes that were irreconcilable. With the ability to scan verify a bottle, a patient’s history and another bottle of pharmaceuticals, a pharmacist can immediately tell if there is a potential problem. Scan verification using today’s technology has revolutionized the medical and pharmaceutical industries and has helped to safeguard millions of people.
Scan verification can also be used in quality control in warehouse environments to ensure that proper amounts of a specific product are being dispensed into the right orders or other locations.
